Geomatics Engineering : Laser Technology
Laser Technology
Laser technology is internationally acknowledged for LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). This technology can generate dense and accurate numeric digital models, both for land topography (DTM – Digital Terrain Model) and vertical surface structures on that land (DSM – Digital Surface Model or DEM - Digital Elevation Model).

ENGEFOTO has mapped over 2,500 square with this technology, generating the tridimensional georeference of 300 linear km transmission lines (both cables and structures), and determining plant cover volume calculations for various clients, as COPEL (Power Company of Paraná), ARACRUZ and VOTORANTIM.
It is possible to remove plant cover virtually in forest areas, as well as to observe other manmade structures, which makes this a very attractive tool for topographic data end users in different areas and for different applications. This technology provides unique potential to collect high density and submetric accuracy elevation digital models.
Products Generated
Products generated from post-processing data can be delivered in the ASCII (text) format, shapefile and ArcGIS or CAD grid (AutoCAD or MicroStation). Usually, the product generated is fragmented in parts in accordance with leaf articulation defined by the client, given the large volume of information involved. In case of text file output, both the point coordinate and the intensity of return to the laser sensor can be exported. Data is defined in the Cartographic Projection System (usually in the UTM projection) and referenced in the Brazilian Geodesic System (SIRGAS) or any other system desired by the client.
