Thematic Maps
Thematic maps address the representation of surface-related phenomena in a simple and clear manner to meet the user’s needs.
Thematic maps cam be used in different ways, such as to provide specific information about certain locations, overall information on spatial standards and to compare standards of two or more maps.
Designing thematic maps requires two elements: a cartographic base as a position reference and the thematic representation.
Cartographic representation generate user-friendly maps both in terms of reading and understanding the type of contrast between symbols and the contrast with objects or concepts represented.
Engefoto designs off-set printed thematic maps with 1000 to 100,000-copy press run. They are multi-purpose tools used by different sectors, e.g. tourism, municipal urban maps, road maps, land use and occupation, etc. Those projects are fostered by public financial resources (city halls, Road Departments, Tourism Departments, Planning Departments, etc.), or private-sponsor funding.
Municipal thematic maps are related to two important urban planning aspects: current urban occupation assessment and the definition of municipal development proposals.
